Даже не могу сказать, возникает ли с конкретными пакетами или со всеми...попробую поэкспериментировать

ты погляди какой процес пямять отжирает. Помочь тебе в этом нелёгком деле может программа top http://jtux.tomsk.ru/2007/12/19/top/

По хендбуку выставил MAKEOPTS="-j3" (кол-во процессоров+1=2+1=3). Попробовал поменять на 2, запустил компиляцию virtualbox и стал отслеживать TOPом в другом терминале (ctrl+alt+F1) того паразита, который грузит....И.....
Программа встала!!!!Без всяких проблем!!! НО....ранее я уже так делал, т.е. менял MAKEOPTS="-j3" на MAKEOPTS="-j2", проблема возникала с другими пакетами...

Из личного опыта работы на ноуте могу предложить что это:
1. Перегрев или 2. Сыпется жесткий. Если есть подозрение на жесткий, можно попробовать после зависания перегрузиться и запустить MHDD с компакта и поглядеть, чего он там нарисует.
А может и не то и не другое :).

Жесткий в порядке-проверял MHDD, перегрева не допускаю, вроде... решения пока не нашёл

Прискорбно, но он мне выдал 60 ошибок разного калибра.....
Оператива глючит получается....

агу, я стандартная трабла ;)
я всегда как оперативу трогаю тест проганяю.
попробуй в другие слоты вставить, почистить от пыли.
и если заведёться - не трогай ! )

у меня ноут - его я вообще не вскрывал еще:)

Брал в Стеке, гарантия всего на год...истекла полгода назад:)))
